Researcher Molecular Breeding
Bakker Brothers is specialized in breeding and marketing of vegetable seeds with special focus on Africa, the Middle-East, and Central Asia. Our head office is in Noord-Scharwoude, our breeding&research station is in Heerhugowaard and we have several breeding/trial stations in our target markets. We operate in a dynamic and innovative sector and are at the basis of the vegetables we consume.

Researcher Molecular Breeding
(fulltime)
Your challenge
We invest in research & technology to support our breeding programs. You will play a pivotal role in it. You closely follow the developments in Plant Sciences. You translate these into internal molecular breeding projects and you are crucial in the launch and execution of these aimed at improving and accelerating breeding. For the projects, as well as for the implementation, you work closely with the breeding teams. You take the lead in the further development of the laboratory, ensure a smooth daily operation, and supervise the routine molecular marker activities. In addition to genetics and genomics you are interested in, preferably also have knowledge of, phytopathology as much attention will go to disease resistances. With your passion, qualities and capacities, you will succeed in developing both personally and these activities within the organization.

the lab, the breeding teams, and the production department.
• You ensure smooth daily operations in the laboratory.

expert with an impact on our breeding programs.
What we expect from you
• Passion for plant biotechnology, genetics with appropriate education and/or
experience.
• You are positive, proactive, solution and results driven.
• You are independent, easy to get along with, and find your way easily.
• You are structured and can plan and organize well.
• Comfortable with molecular genetics, biotechnology, molecular breeding
methods.
• Competent data skills, incl. open-source bio-informatics, molecular biology
tools. Experience with relevant open-source programming languages is a plus.
• You get motivation from creative solving (subject-matter related) challenges.
• You are proficient in English and can also get along well in Dutch.
